A new investigation by Truth Nigeria uses the haunting term "Forest Auschwitz" to describe the network of mass kidnapping camps now operating across Nigeria's Middle Belt, where between 800 and 1,400 captives are estimated to be held in Kaduna State alone.

The numbers are staggering. 560 documented abductions in Kaduna over twenty months. 177 abductions in Kwara in just the first ten months of 2025. 200 to 300 kidnapped in Benue. Churches, highways, orphanages, and entire villages targeted by armed gangs operating with near total impunity.

Mass Kidnapping Camps in Nigeria's Forests Hold Hundreds of Christians

The named forest camp locations alone read like a list of nightmares: Rijana Forest, Doka, Jan Dutse, and Enugwu in Kaduna. Amla, Efugegwanokwu, Enimado, Ugbokolo Okpoga, and Apa Agila in Benue.

The atrocities defy comprehension. On 18 January 2026, gunmen abducted over 170 worshippers from Kurmin Wali during church services. In August 2024, 20 Catholic medical students simply vanished. In November 2025, a pastor was dragged into the forest during an attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku. Of 23 children abducted from a Kogi orphanage, eight remain missing. 20,000 people have fled Kwara since April 2024.

"Forest Auschwitz." The phrase belongs in the headlines of every Western newspaper. Instead it sits in a single Truth Nigeria investigation while the Tinubu government pretends nothing is wrong and the BBC writes glowing economic puff pieces on Lagos. Christians in the Middle Belt are being hunted, caged, ransomed, and slaughtered in industrial volume. There is a word for this. We have used it before. We must use it now. Genocide. Western governments must condition every dollar of aid on Nigeria stopping these camps.
