Erika Kirk Brings 600 Pastors to Their Feet: My Husband Was Murdered for Preaching the Gospel

Pastors Rally at TPUSA Faith Forward Summit to Honor Charlie Kirk and Fight Cultural Compromise

Roughly 600 pastors and ministry leaders gathered at Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas on April 22, 2026 for Turning Point USA's Faith Forward Pastors' Summit, an event dedicated to confronting cultural compromise in the Church and honoring the legacy of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk.

Kirk was assassinated in September 2025 while speaking at a college outreach event at Utah Valley University in Orem. His widow, Erika Kirk, now serves as CEO of Turning Point USA and delivered one of the summit's most powerful addresses.

Neutrality is no longer an option. It's a decision in itself.

Erika Kirk challenged pastors to stop "trimming the truth so that it fits more comfortably in the spirit of the age." She recalled that her husband's passion for churches intensified during COVID lockdowns, when houses of worship were shuttered while other businesses stayed open.

My husband was murdered for preaching the Gospel. What will it take then?

She told the crowd that Charlie Kirk believed "the health of a nation will never rise above the health of its churches," urging pastors not to let fear of losing attendance prevent them from speaking with conviction.

Christian apologist Frank Turek, president of CrossExamined.org, was present when Kirk was shot. Turek recalled that Kirk had "shrugged off" safety concerns, insisting he needed to remain accessible to people. Turek also forcefully condemned conspiracy theories targeting Erika Kirk, including allegations from podcaster Candace Owens, calling them "absolutely demonic."

How sinister is it that they're going after a widow and the legacy that her husband built?

A panel titled "Deconstructing Islam" featured Shariq Khan, Pastor Greg Armstrong of Christ Underground, YouTube apologist Michael Jones, and apologist Alex Kerimli. Jones described Islam as "a Frankenstein amalgamation" of pagan Arabian traditions, Jewish, and Christian elements. Kerimli highlighted key theological differences, noting the absence of original sin in the Quran.

TPUSA Faith Forward Summit Speakers Call Pastors to Reject Compromise and Preach Boldly

Pastor John K. Amanchukwu Sr. closed the summit with a revival style sermon, warning against the church's departure from scriptural foundations. Referencing Amos 3:3, he reminded attendees that "God still demands holiness in His Church."

Amanchukwu denounced what he called "Baskin Robbins theology," where financial contributors shape doctrine and "social justice replaces biblical justice." He criticized contemporary preaching that avoids terms like "sin, repentance and Hell" in favor of "love, kindness and non judgmental" messaging.

He cited biblical figures who compromised their principles, including Adam, Lot, Solomon, Peter, and Ananias and Sapphira, contrasting their failures with Christ's steadfastness. His message was clear: "Jesus never compromised."

The summit was led by Pastor Lucas Miles, senior director of TPUSA Faith, and featured sessions on church growth, biblical masculinity, cultural engagement, and confronting the teachings of Islam.

The Crusader's Opinion

Charlie Kirk was gunned down for doing what every pastor in America should be doing: speaking the truth without apology. And now his widow stands at the same podium, looks 600 pastors in the eye, and asks the question that should haunt every silent shepherd in this nation: "What will it take?"

The fact that a young man had to be murdered before the Church started having this conversation tells you everything about the state of Western Christianity. We have pastors who will preach a 45 minute sermon on "living your best life" but won't spend 45 seconds addressing the slaughter of Christians in Nigeria. Erika Kirk is right. Neutrality is a decision. Silence is complicity. If your church cannot name evil, your church is useless against it.
