Texas Politician Buys Epstein's Infamous New Mexico Ranch and Plans to Transform It Into a Christian Retreat Center

Former Texas state Senator Don Huffines has revealed that he and his family purchased Jeffrey Epstein's notorious Zorro Ranch in New Mexico and plan to convert the 8,000 acre property into a Christian retreat center.

Huffines, a Republican currently running for Texas Comptroller, announced the plans on X, writing:

What the enemy once meant for evil, God can redeem for good.

The property, located near Stanley in Santa Fe County, has been renamed "Rancho de San Rafael" after the saint associated with physical and spiritual healing. Huffines said his family began plans immediately to remake it as a Christian retreat, "reclaiming it for Jesus."

Epstein owned the 8,000 acre ranch from 1993 until his death in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. The luxury hacienda mansion is a 33,000 square foot structure featuring an open air courtyard with a fountain and several lush gardens. The property had been listed at $27.5 million before being reduced to $18 million.

The Huffines family purchased the ranch in 2023 through an anonymous LLC. Huffines previously served in the Texas Senate from 2015 to 2019 and ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2022. His real estate company, Huffines Communities, operates in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

Meanwhile, New Mexico lawmakers have unanimously approved legislation authorizing a probe into allegations of sexual abuse, trafficking, and criminal activity at the ranch. State Representative Andrea Romero noted that victims allegedly ranged from toddlers to teenage girls. Prince Andrew was among celebrities documented to have visited the property.

New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez has also ordered the criminal investigation into allegations of illegal activity at the ranch to be reopened, following information recently released by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Huffines stated that he and his family are in the process of converting the ranch so that people can "come and be closer to Jesus." A newly established Truth Commission in New Mexico held its first meeting this week to investigate the dark history of the property.

The Crusader's Opinion

This is exactly what redemption looks like. A property that was once a playground for the most vile evil imaginable, where the innocent were preyed upon by the powerful, is now being reclaimed for Christ. Don Huffines understands something fundamental: the answer to darkness is not to tear down and forget, but to consecrate and redeem.

Let us not forget what happened at that ranch. Children were trafficked. The powerful were shielded. The justice system failed for decades. And now, where unspeakable sin once flourished, the name of Jesus will be lifted up. That is the power of the Gospel.

We need more Christians with the resources and the courage to take territory back from the enemy. Every square foot of that ranch should echo with prayer and worship until the memory of Epstein's evil is drowned out by the glory of God.
