Christians Furious as UK Government Guidance Still Lets Schools Transition Children
Christian groups slam UK Labour trans schools guidance for still allowing social transitioning of children despite new restrictions.
UK Government Trans Schools Guidance Slammed by Christian Groups for Allowing Social Transitioning
The UK Labour government has released new draft guidance on how schools should handle students who identify as transgender, but Christian and family organisations say it does not go far enough to protect children.
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson introduced the guidance on 14 February 2026, describing it as a middle ground between the stricter Conservative proposals from 2023 and more permissive approaches. The guidance states that primary schools should not initiate social transitions and that biological sex should determine access to single sex spaces "with no exceptions." A 10 week consultation period is now open for feedback.
However, multiple Christian organisations have condemned the guidance for still allowing children to socially transition with parental consultation.
The guidance "falls short" of necessary protections. Schools have facilitated concerning practices like counseling from activists and inappropriate changing arrangements.
That was John Denning, Head of Education at The Christian Institute.
Christian Concern was even more direct in their opposition, stating on social media:
Children will be allowed to socially transition. We cannot perpetuate the lie that boys can become girls.
The Family Education Trust called aspects of the guidance "shameful," citing serious safeguarding risks for vulnerable children. Unite for Education, a Scottish charity, urged consistency across the UK and criticised Scotland's more permissive current guidance.
Sex Matters offered a mixed reaction, welcoming the clear guidelines on single sex spaces but criticising the continued allowance of social transitions, describing them as promoting "dangerous fairy tale" expectations in children.
Christian and Family Organisations Push Back Against Labour's Trans Guidance in Schools
The draft guidance has opened a 10 week consultation period, giving parents, teachers, and organisations the opportunity to formally respond. Multiple groups are urging Christians and concerned parents to submit their views before the deadline closes.
The debate centres on whether allowing any form of social transitioning in schools, even with parental consent, amounts to affirming a child's belief that they can change sex, which critics say is medically and scientifically unfounded.
The Crusader's Opinion
Let us be absolutely clear about what is happening here. The government is telling schools they can help children pretend to be the opposite sex, and we are supposed to celebrate this as "progress." No amount of parental consent forms makes a lie become truth. God made them male and female. That is not negotiable, not by Parliament, not by any Education Secretary, and not by any activist group that has infiltrated our schools. Every single child who is told they can change their sex is being set up for a lifetime of confusion, medical harm, and spiritual destruction. The Church must speak with one voice on this. Silence is complicity.
