Truth Nigeria Team Flees on Foot as Gunmen Attack 500 Mourners at Nding Sesut Funeral, Killing Seven More After Soldiers Vanish

The reporting team at Truth Nigeria, the small but courageous outlet documenting Christian persecution in the Middle Belt, was forced to flee on foot for over 5 kilometres after Fulani militia gunmen opened fire on a mass burial of 500 mourners in Nding Sesut village, 20 miles south of Jos, Plateau State on 6 May 2026.

The mourners had gathered to bury seven villagers killed in an attack the previous night. As they grieved, gunmen surged from the surrounding hills with automatic weapons. Seven more were killed at the funeral itself, with two more wounded.

"The group coming from the north were maybe 30 or more. The group coming from the south I can't estimate," said local leader Ishaya Gyang. Barrister Solomon Dalyop raised the most damning charge of all: "Military personnel stationed to this area were nowhere to be found just moments before the attack."

Truth Nigeria had issued a terror alert at 5:27 p.m. on 5 May, naming Nding Sesut specifically as a target. Attacks began roughly two hours later. Truth Nigeria reporters abandoned their vehicle and ran for safety. They lived to file the story. Many of those they came to bury did not.

The Crusader's Opinion

Truth Nigeria is doing the work that almost no other outlet on earth is willing to do. They warned the world. They named the village. They published the timestamps. Two hours later the killers came. And the soldiers, conveniently, were nowhere. This is what failed states look like in real time. Pray for these journalists. Support their work financially. The Nigerian government will not protect Plateau Christians. The international press will not cover them. Truth Nigeria will. Their reporters' lives are on the line. Honour them.
