Christian Evangelist Murdered in Uganda Hours After Preaching the Gospel: His Widow Survives the Ambush
Alfred Kitenga Stabbed to Death by Suspected Muslim Extremists Posing as Fellow Believers Near Kampala
Christian evangelist Alfred Kitenga was stabbed to death and his wife Anna Grace Nabirye was left for dead on the Northern Bypass in Kawaala, Wakiso District, Uganda on the night of 1 May 2026, hours after the couple had finished preaching at a Gospel event in nearby Namungoona.
The killers, suspected Muslim extremists, posed as motorcycle taxi drivers who claimed to be fellow believers attending the same event. They lured the couple onto an alternate route through Kasangati where three additional men joined them, and the ambush began at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Uganda Christians Targeted in Coordinated Faith Based Attack
Pastor Kitenga was severely beaten and fatally stabbed. His wife was left wounded near her home, where she survived to tell the story. Local church leaders found Kitenga's body abandoned along the roadside, and his remains were transported to a mortuary.
"This is a painful loss for the Body of Christ," a local church leader said, urging believers to surround Kitenga's family in prayer. As of publication, no suspects had been arrested. Ugandan authorities have launched an investigation into what local Christians believe was a planned, religiously motivated assassination of a known evangelist.
The Crusader's Opinion
Alfred Kitenga went to bed in heaven on the first day of May, killed by men who pretended to be brothers in Christ to get close enough to murder him. This is the cost of the Great Commission in 2026. Across Africa, Christian evangelists are being hunted, surveilled, and slaughtered by extremists who fear nothing more than the Gospel taking root. Anna Grace lost her husband. The Church lost a labourer. Heaven gained a martyr. Pray for Uganda. Pray for justice. And do not forget Alfred's name.
