Christian Apologist Robin Schumacher: Two Doctrines Are Enough to Anchor Any Believers Faith Through Doubt
How Christians Can Hold Unshaken Faith Despite Unanswered Questions in a Skeptical Age
Christian apologist Robin Schumacher has issued a powerful word for believers struggling under the weight of unanswered theological questions: cling to the two essential doctrines, God's existence and Christ's resurrection, and the rest of the storms of doubt cannot move you.
"When you focus on the essentials and keep learning," Schumacher writes, "faith becomes increasingly resilient despite lingering uncertainties."
Why Christian Faith Survives Doubt and Unanswered Questions
Schumacher draws a sharp line between healthy thinking and destructive doubting. Wrestling with hard questions is intellectually honest. Allowing unresolved issues to pile up untreated leads to spiritual collapse. He distinguishes essential doctrines from non essential ones. The age of the earth or the mechanics of evolution may remain unsettled. The empty tomb cannot.
"If the two core doctrines prove true," Schumacher writes, "Christianity is true and anything opposed to it is false." He also reminds believers that doubt is partly spiritual warfare. Drawing on Genesis 3, the serpent's "has God said?", and Ephesians 6:11, he urges Christians to "put on the full armor of God" and resist the assault.
The Crusader's Opinion
An entire generation of Christians is being told their faith is fragile. They are being told that any unanswered question is a refutation of the whole. That is a lie. The Christian faith does not collapse if you cannot solve every paradox. It rests on the empty tomb. Schumacher is right. Anchor yourself to Christ risen and let the small storms blow. The Resurrection is the rock. Doubt is real. So is the devil. Pick up the armour. Open the Word. Stand fast.
