AFA Action Senior Policy Advisor Calls Modern Family Reinvention "Adult Desire vs God's Design" as Birth Certificates Now Allow Three Parents and Zero Biological Ties

Christian attorney and AFA Action Senior Policy Advisor Jenna Ellis has published a blistering op ed in The Christian Post on 21 May 2026 arguing that modern American law is quietly erasing the categories of mother and father in favour of adult preference.

"A child has his or her own identity, dignity, lineage and natural bonds," Ellis writes. "Every child comes from a mother and father."

How Surrogacy and Same Sex Parenting Are Redefining American Family Law

Top Trump campaign aide pushed anti-gay positions, said legalizing same-sex marriage would lead to bestiality and pedophilia

Ellis's central thesis: modern society defines family through emotional attachment and adult preferences, whereas the biblical and natural law perspective grounds family in covenantal marriage between husband and wife, oriented toward permanence and children across generations. Once marriage is disconnected from procreation, every adjacent moral institution is destabilised.

Surrogacy, Ellis argues, fragments parenthood into purchasable components, transforming children from gifts into commodities obtained through intention. The same legal frameworks that allow three names on a birth certificate also allow biological parents to be erased. Ellis frames this as the central philosophical battle of the era: adult desire vs God's design.

The Crusader's Opinion

Jenna Ellis is right. The question is not "what is marriage?" anymore. The question is "what is a child?" Modern law increasingly treats children as commodities to be assembled by intention, paid for by money, and assigned legal parents by court order regardless of biology. Christians must reclaim the foundational truth: every child has a mother and a father. Every birth certificate should reflect that. Every adoption should honour it. Every fertility clinic should respect it. Children are not consumer goods. They are image bearers of God.
