Charlie Kirk's Widow Erika Kirk Tapped by Trump for Air Force Academy Board
President Trump appoints Erika Kirk, widow of assassinated TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors.
Erika Kirk Appointed to Air Force Academy Board of Visitors by President Trump
President Donald Trump has appointed Erika Kirk, the widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, to the U.S. Air Force Academy's Board of Visitors. The appointment places her on a congressionally established oversight body that reviews the Academy's operations, morale, discipline, curriculum, and fiscal affairs.
Charlie Kirk, the co founder of Turning Point USA, was originally appointed to the same board in March 2025. He attended his first and only board meeting on August 7, 2025, where he questioned Superintendent Lt. Gen. Tony Bauernfeind about the Academy's compliance with Trump's executive orders regarding the elimination of critical race theory and diversity initiatives.
Weeks later, on September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Following his death, Erika Kirk was unanimously elected by the Turning Point USA board as CEO and Chair, a role Charlie had expressed he wanted her to fill in the event of his passing.
The Board of Visitors, established under Title 10 U.S. Code 9455, is tasked with investigating matters including morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, and academic methods at the Air Force Academy.
Erika Kirk holds a bachelor's degree in political science and international relations from Arizona State University and a Juris Master degree in American legal studies from Liberty University. She is also reportedly pursuing a Doctorate in Biblical Studies at Liberty University.
Unlike typical board members who often have military service or governmental experience, Kirk's background is rooted in conservative activism and education. Other current board appointees include motivational speaker Dan Clark, retired USAF Colonel Doug Nikolai, and former Deputy National Security Advisor Dina Powell.
Charlie expressed to multiple executives that this is what he wanted in the event of his death.
The Turning Point USA board issued that statement when announcing Erika Kirk's appointment as CEO in September 2025.
Why Trump Chose Erika Kirk to Serve on the USAF Academy Advisory Board

Kirk is expected to serve on the board for three years. The board did not formally announce her appointment, though her name now appears on the official list of members. Her appointment signals Trump's continued commitment to honoring Charlie Kirk's legacy and maintaining conservative oversight of military education institutions.
The Crusader's Opinion
Charlie Kirk gave his life standing up for what he believed in. He was murdered for speaking the truth, and the world barely blinked. Now his widow, Erika Kirk, steps into his seat on the Air Force Academy Board, and the media wants to question her qualifications? This woman buried her husband, took the helm of one of the largest conservative youth organizations in America, and continues the fight without missing a beat. That is the kind of strength that built Western civilization. The real question is not whether Erika Kirk is qualified. The real question is why more Christians aren't stepping into positions of influence like this. The enemy never rests. Neither should we.
