Britain Is Not Dead: Shocking New Data Shows 30% of Young Men Attend Church Monthly
New UK research reveals 20% of adults are open to exploring Christianity as hundreds of churches prepare for a nationwide Easter 2026 mission.
New UK Research Reveals 20% of Adults Open to Exploring Christianity as Churches Launch Nationwide Easter Mission
A major new survey has revealed a surprising level of openness to Christianity across the United Kingdom, with one in five adults saying they would be open to exploring the Bible and Jesus Christ.
The research, commissioned by A Passion for Life and conducted by Whitestone among 2,112 UK adults in early June 2025, found that 15% of adults attend church at least monthly, either in person or online. That figure is higher than the 12% recorded in the Bible Society's 2024 research.
Among young men aged 18 to 24, the numbers are even more striking: 30% reported attending church monthly. Over 50% of respondents said they personally know a practicing Christian, and more than 20% said they would visit a church if invited by a friend or colleague.
People prefer regular services to standalone events.
The survey also explored what people feel is missing in their lives. Purpose topped the list at over 30%, rising to 40% among 18 to 24 year olds. Freedom, security, love, meaning, hope, truth, and community each came in at around 20%. Only 3% specifically cited God as missing from their lives.
John Stevens, National Director of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC), has welcomed the findings. He acknowledged both the challenges and opportunities the data presents for the British church.
Geographically, the research showed higher engagement in Scotland and Northern Ireland. London recorded approximately 25% monthly church attendance, while Yorkshire and Humberside had the lowest figures.
The findings come as hundreds of churches prepare for "A Passion for Life," a nationwide mission initiative launching in the run up to Easter 2026. The campaign uses refreshed "LIFE" branding and will see local churches across the country participating in coordinated outreach efforts.
UK Survey Shows One in Five Britons Open to Christianity Ahead of Major Easter 2026 Church Outreach

The research paints a picture of a nation that, despite growing secularism, retains significant spiritual curiosity. The fact that young men are attending church at higher rates than the general population challenges common assumptions about the demographic makeup of British congregations.
The "A Passion for Life" initiative aims to capitalise on this openness with a coordinated effort across denominations, encouraging churches to invite their communities into regular worship rather than one off events.
The Crusader's Opinion
This is the data the mainstream media will never headline. While the press delights in proclaiming Christianity dead in Britain, 20% of the population is quietly saying they are open to Jesus. Thirty percent of young men, the very demographic we are told has abandoned the faith, are showing up to church every month. The harvest is ripe. The question is whether the Church in Britain has the courage to seize this moment or whether we will keep apologising for the Gospel while our nation searches desperately for purpose, meaning, and truth. Stop retreating. Start proclaiming. Britain is not lost. She is waiting.
