Jelly Roll and Brandon Lake Win Grammy for Hard Fought Hallelujah and Proclaim Jesus Before Millions

Jelly Roll used the 2026 Grammy Awards stage to preach the Gospel to millions of viewers worldwide, declaring that "Jesus is for everybody" after winning three awards including Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance for "Hard Fought Hallelujah" with worship leader Brandon Lake.

The song, featured on Lake's eleventh album "King of Hearts," was certified Platinum by the RIAA and spent 20 weeks at number one on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart. It won Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song at the Grammy Premiere Ceremony on February 1.

"Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party. Jesus is not owned by no musical label. Jesus is Jesus, and anybody can have a relationship with Him"

Brandon Lake opened his acceptance speech by thanking Jesus, then shared how the collaboration came together. "He just took me everywhere he was performing and said, let's do this song together," Lake said of Jelly Roll's commitment to bringing worship music to mainstream audiences.

Lake became emotional as he described the song's impact on lives. "I've gotten countless messages of how this song has literally saved people's lives and pointed them to Jesus," he said, closing his speech with a verse from John 16:33: "I have overcome the world."

Jelly Roll, who also won Best Contemporary Country Album for "Beautifully Broken," delivered an equally powerful testimony during his acceptance. "I would never have changed my life without you," he said. "I'd have ended up dead or in jail. I believe that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power."

The faith declarations created a wave of response online, with the Christian community celebrating the boldness of both artists. Gospel and contemporary Christian music dominated the ceremony, with CeCe Winans also winning major awards. The performances demonstrated that Christian artists can compete at the highest level while unapologetically pointing audiences to Christ.

THE CRUSADER'S OPINION

Jelly Roll stood on the biggest stage in music and told the entire world that Jesus is for everybody. No hedging. No apologizing. Just the Gospel, plain and clear.

This is what courage looks like in a culture that wants Christians to stay quiet. Two men used their moment in the spotlight not for themselves but for Christ. That is what we are called to do.
