"I'd Never Seen So Many Bodies" Report Names Islamic State Affiliated ADF as the Primary Killer of Eastern Congo Christians

A new 61 page Amnesty International report, titled "I'd Never Seen So Many Bodies: War Crimes by the Allied Democratic Forces in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo," has documented systematic atrocities against Christian civilians in North Kivu and Ituri provinces.

The investigation, based on 71 interviews conducted between October 2025 and February 2026, was published on 13 May 2026.

"The vast majority of the ADF's victims have been Christians," the report concludes, "primarily because operations concentrate in predominantly Christian areas."

The numbers are staggering. Over 40 worshippers were killed in a single church attack in Komanda village. Over 60 mourners were slaughtered at a funeral in Ntoyo on 8 September 2025. Attacks have hit villages, health facilities, and farms across Komanda, Ntoyo, Otmaber, and Byambwe.

The Allied Democratic Forces, the Islamist militant group affiliated with the Islamic State's Central Africa Province, originated in 1990s Uganda and relocated to eastern Congo.

It gained formal Islamic State recognition in 2019. Agnès Callamard, Amnesty International Secretary General, has emphasised the urgent need for civilian protection and accountability. With UN peacekeepers withdrawing and Congolese state authority barely present, ADF operations continue largely unimpeded.

The Crusader's Opinion

Amnesty International is no friend of the Christian right, and yet even their 61 page report cannot avoid the obvious. The Allied Democratic Forces are an Islamic State franchise, and they are slaughtering Christians by the dozens in eastern Congo. 40 dead in a church. 60 dead at a funeral. Western governments must act. The ADF should be sanctioned, hunted, and dismantled. Christian leaders in Britain and America must finally name the pattern.
