Los Angeles Unified Forced to Promote Faith and Fellowship Club After Liberty Counsel Threatened First Amendment Lawsuit

The Los Angeles Unified School District, the second largest in America, has been forced to reverse its viewpoint discrimination against the Faith and Fellowship Club at its Arts and Entertainment Virtual Academy after Liberty Counsel threatened legal action.

The district had banned the Christian club from promotional advertising during the school's weekly webinar and excluded it from the master list of extracurricular activities, while featuring Ramadan celebrations on the same platform.

Liberty Counsel Forces LAUSD to Restore Christian Club Equal Access

Liberty Counsel founder and Chairman Mat Staver sent a demand letter on 17 April 2026. By 23 April 2026, just six days later, the district had agreed to restore the Christian club to equal status.

"The First Amendment and the Equal Access Act do not allow for excluding a Christian club in a forum where other non curricular programs and other viewpoints are permitted," Staver said. The result speaks for itself. At the very next meeting after the reinstatement, student participation in the club doubled.

The Crusader's Opinion

One letter from Liberty Counsel did what years of Christian parent complaints could not. The largest school district in California, run by some of the most progressive administrators on earth, folded in less than a week when faced with a real First Amendment lawsuit. The lesson is unmistakable. Christian parents must stop asking nicely. The Equal Access Act is law. The First Amendment is law. When schools discriminate, they must be sued, and they will lose. Tell every Christian club in America: you have rights. Defend them.
