Boko Haram or ISWAP militants abducted 40 schoolchildren, including children under age 5, from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira/Uba County, Borno State, Nigeria at approximately 9 a.m. on 15 May 2026. The raid occurred 10 to 15 minutes after a military patrol departed.

Boko Haram or ISWAP militants abducted 40 schoolchildren, including children under age 5, from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira/Uba County, Borno State, Nigeria at approximately 9 a.m. on 15 May 2026. The raid occurred 10 to 15 minutes after a military patrol departed.
A separate coordinated strike near Chibok on 14 May killed eight people. A newborn died. The mother is in intensive care.
40 Borno Schoolchildren Abducted as Coordinated Boko Haram Strikes Hit Three Chibok Communities
"They crept into three communities around Chibok and started attacking them at the same time," Dr Pogu Bitrus, president of the Middle Belt Forum, told Truth Nigeria.
The three villages struck simultaneously around 3 a.m. on 14 May were Bambatsu, Sangula, and Ngadarma. 23 people were injured in addition to the 8 killed.
Community vigilantes and local hunters killed approximately 5 terrorists in the engagement. Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Askira, Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, confirmed the toll. The Mussa school abduction echoes the infamous Chibok kidnappings of 2014, when 276 schoolgirls were taken. A decade later, the abductions continue at industrial scale, and the international press has largely moved on.

Forty more Nigerian schoolchildren. Some under five years old. Stolen from their classrooms 15 minutes after a military patrol left. The timing was not accidental. Boko Haram and ISWAP know exactly when and where the Nigerian army is and is not. Twelve years after the original Chibok atrocity, the world has tired of caring. Truth Nigeria has not. Pray for the 40. Pray for the newborn that died and the mother in ICU. Demand US sanctions on Nigerian officials who fail to defend their own children.
