America Reads the Bible Marathon Sets Stage for Rededicate 250 National Jubilee as Trump Becomes First President Since Reagan to Read Multiple Verses Publicly

An 84 hour continuous reading of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation drew more than 3 million viewers to the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC during the America Reads the Bible event from 18 to 25 April 2026. Nearly 500 participants read Scripture, supported by 122 ministry partners.

The marathon featured Candace Cameron Bure leading readings and a recorded 2 Chronicles 7:11 to 22 reading by President Donald Trump, the first sitting president since Ronald Reagan to publicly read more than a single Bible verse.

Spiritual Awakening Builds Across America as Bible Reading Surges to Historic Levels

Bunni Pounds, founder of Christians Engaged and the event's organiser, said: "This began as a simple vision to call America back to Bible reading," adding that "God's Word does not return void."

The momentum builds toward a far larger event on 17 May 2026 on the National Mall: "Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise and Thanksgiving", coinciding with America's 250th anniversary celebrations. The Christian Daily and Thrive News are calling it one of the largest US religious gatherings in 50 years. Combined with the Barna data on rising Bible engagement among Gen Z and the SBC's fifth straight year of baptism growth, the signs of revival are multiplying.

Three million viewers, 84 hours of unbroken Scripture, a sitting president reading 2 Chronicles aloud, and a National Mall rededication building toward the 250th anniversary.
