Mission Director Simon Bohn Commissions 10 New Missionaries as 430 Staff From 60 Countries Celebrate Buchenauerhof Anniversary
The German missions organisation Deutsche Missionsgemeinschaft (DMG) marked its 75th anniversary with an "Experience Day" at Buchenauerhof near Sinsheim in southwest Germany on 10 May 2026. Over 3,000 visitors attended. The next morning DMG commissioned 10 new missionaries.
In a striking choice, DMG omitted the traditional German worship service at the anniversary in favour of multilingual services in Latin American, African, and Arabic languages. Missionaries from over 60 countries participated in exhibitions ranging from bicycle repair to taekwondo.
How DMG's 75th Anniversary Mirrors the Changing Face of Global Christianity

"Germany has many large churches, but there seem to be few people inside them," observed Dan, a Kenyan Christian participant.
The contrast between European institutional Christianity and the vibrant churches sending missionaries to Europe is now stark.
DMG mission director Simon Bohn framed the day theologically: "Many people long for hope, love and forgiveness. Mission does not mean that we know something better, but that we invite people to encounter God."
The DMG currently employs approximately 430 staff members globally. The 75 year history of the organisation reflects German Protestant missions through every twist of post war European history.
The Crusader's Opinion
The Kenyan observation says it all. Germany has cathedrals. Germany lacks worshippers. The global Christian Church is shifting. The Southern Hemisphere, Asia, and Africa now send missionaries to Europe. DMG choosing African, Latin American, and Arabic services over a German service for its anniversary is a humble acknowledgement of where the Holy Spirit is moving. Pray for German revival. Pray for the 10 new DMG missionaries. The Lord builds His Church everywhere, and right now He is building it most visibly in places Western Christians used to send missionaries to.
