Zachary Levi Opens Up About Spiritual Warfare, King David and Why Faith Still Matters in 2026

Actor Zachary Levi, best known for his roles in "Shazam!" and "Chuck," is using his platform to bring one of the Bible's most compelling stories to life through a new Fox Nation docudrama titled "David: King of Israel."

The four part series, which premiered on February 26, 2026, follows the journey of David from shepherd boy to warrior king. Through immersive reenactments, expert commentary and Levi's narration, the series captures the full arc of David's life, marked by courage, violence, passion, failure and redemption.

"David's story is incredible. It's action packed. There's drama, intrigue, giants, witches."

Levi told interviewers that David's story has always resonated with him personally.

"I grew up in a Christian home and reading my Bible and David was the story that always stood out to me as the most epic, the most amazing."

The 45 year old Louisiana born actor also addressed the reality of spiritual warfare in today's culture, warning that unseen forces are actively dividing people.

"We are, and have always been, battling principalities and powers. We are not battling the flesh and blood. We are battling ideas. We are battling bad ideas."

Levi expressed deep concern about cultural division, stating that people are "being actively conditioned to hate each other" and that some have begun believing the world would be better if "the other side disappeared."

He pointed to David's life as a powerful example of redemption and human frailty.

"It can be difficult to relate to Jesus. David is us. David is a person who is called a man after God's own heart."

Levi emphasized the daily battle believers face against their own nature.

"We must die to our own flesh daily, we must recognize that the ego and survival and all of these things that are very intrinsic to the human condition, you must battle against those things."

The series was created by Warm Springs Productions, with consulting historians, archaeologists and biblical experts from both Jewish and Christian traditions. Episodes air weekly on Fox Nation through March 19.

Despite his growing influence in faith based entertainment, including his recent film "Sarah's Oil" and his book "Radical Love," Levi describes himself as "Christian adjacent" rather than a traditional minister. Yet his work continues to bring biblical truths to mainstream audiences.

"The light wins. God wins. We know this to be true."

He urged viewers to see the series not just as entertainment but as a lens for understanding the spiritual battles of the present day, noting that "there's still archaeologists and historians who recognize that there is historical fact that backs up a lot of this."

The Crusader's Opinion

Zachary Levi is doing exactly what more people in Hollywood should be doing: using their platform to glorify God instead of mocking Him. While the entertainment industry churns out filth and blasphemy, here is a man standing before millions and declaring that spiritual warfare is real, that good and evil are not abstract concepts, and that the God of the Bible still wins.

The fact that he has to call himself "Christian adjacent" tells you everything about how toxic Hollywood has become for believers. In a sane world, a man proclaiming the truth of Scripture would be celebrated, not forced to hedge. We need a thousand more Zachary Levis. The battle for souls is not a metaphor. It is happening right now, and every voice that speaks truth into the darkness matters.
