Who Is Funding the Slaughter of Nigerian Christians? Ted Cruz Names the Enablers Behind Jos Massacre

At least 28 Christian worshippers were murdered when armed jihadists stormed Christian neighborhoods in Jos, Plateau State on Palm Sunday 2026. The assault has reignited global outrage over Nigeria's failure to dismantle the financial networks bankrolling jihadist violence.

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz issued a sharp warning on X, vowing that Washington would hold Nigerian officials accountable for creating an environment where Christians are routinely attacked.

Nigerian government officials have created an environment in which Christians are routinely persecuted and slaughtered, by imposing sharia law and looking the other way at violence. Those officials should know that the U.S. knows who they are, and has the tools to hold them accountable. Senator Ted Cruz

In 2024, the Federal Government of Nigeria identified 15 individuals and business entities accused of moving funds, logistics, and resources for terrorist groups. Among those named were Kaduna based Desert Herald newspaper editor Tukur Mamu and Kano based Yusuf Ghazali, who reportedly transferred N60 million to two convicted terrorist financiers.

A 2022 U.S. Department of Treasury report confirmed that the UAE Federal Court of Appeals convicted six Nigerians for transferring $782,000 from Dubai to Boko Haram. Despite such exposures, senior Nigerian figures continue to raise alarms that the country's war on terror is being sabotaged from within.

Retired Nigerian Army Major General Danjuma Hamisu Ali Keffi, who led the covert Operation Service Wide in 2020, has publicly demanded a probe into the illegal release of 48 terror financing suspects, including an alleged Boko Haram leader held in military custody.

First, who ordered the release of the 48 terror financing suspects, including the individual identified by Western and Middle Eastern intelligence agencies as the leader of Boko Haram, held in military custody? Secondly, why were they released without being put on trial? Major General Danjuma Hamisu Ali Keffi (retired)

Former Chief of Defense Staff General Lucky Irabor told Channels Television that politicians are among the financiers of terrorism in Nigeria, adding that their identities cannot be disclosed because their trials were conducted away from public consumption.

The Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026, introduced by U.S. lawmakers, identifies former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a potential target for visa bans, asset freezes, and Global Magnitsky Act sanctions. The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria is also named as an entity accused of severe religious freedom violations.

The Crusader's Opinion

Twenty eight Christian souls butchered on Palm Sunday while their murderers' paymasters sit in Abuja boardrooms and government offices. This is not insurgency. It is state sanctioned slaughter dressed up in bureaucratic cowardice. When a retired general publicly begs to know who freed 48 terror financiers, and a former defense chief admits politicians bankroll the killers, the verdict is written in blood. If a Christian governor in Texas funneled millions to groups massacring Muslims, the entire UN would descend on him within hours. But when Nigerian officials fund the extermination of Christ's Church, the world yawns. Ted Cruz is right. Name them. Sanction them. Freeze their assets. Every dollar laundered through a Kano bureau de change buys another bullet for a Plateau State worshipper. God sees. And so does Caesar's sword.
