Savannah Guthrie Begs Kidnapper to Return Her Mother Two Weeks After Disappearance From Arizona Home
"Today" show co host Savannah Guthrie released a new video on Instagram on February 15, 2026, pleading with the person responsible for her mother's disappearance to do the right thing. Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been missing since January 31 after vanishing from her home in Catalina Foothills near Tucson, Arizona.
In the emotional video, Savannah addressed the abductor directly, saying she and her family still believe their mother is alive and can be returned safely.
"It's been two weeks since our mom was taken, and I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope. And we still believe." Savannah Guthrie
She continued with a message aimed squarely at whoever is holding her mother.
"It is never too late to do the right thing. And we are here. We believe in the essential goodness of every human being." Savannah Guthrie
Nancy Guthrie was last seen at approximately 9:48 p.m. on January 31 when family members dropped her off at her home after dinner. She was reported missing the following day after she failed to attend church on Sunday morning. Authorities have described the case as a kidnapping.
The FBI released doorbell camera footage showing a masked, armed individual at Nancy's front door on the morning of her disappearance. The suspect is described as 5'9" to 5'10" with an average build, wearing a ski mask and carrying a black Ozark Trail backpack sold exclusively at Walmart. A glove found two miles from the home contained unknown male DNA.
The FBI doubled its reward to $100,000 for information leading to Nancy's location or the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Investigators have received between 40,000 and 50,000 tips, and several hundred law enforcement personnel are working the case around the clock.
Nancy requires daily medication and has a pacemaker, raising urgent health concerns. Savannah Guthrie stepped away from her NBC duties, including co hosting the 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies, to focus entirely on the search for her mother.
President Trump called Savannah Guthrie and directed federal authorities to assist. He also stated that potential abductors could face the death penalty if Nancy is found dead. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that all Guthrie family members have been cleared as suspects and called suggestions otherwise "cruel."

At least three media organizations received purported ransom notes demanding payment in Bitcoin. One note was confirmed to be fake, resulting in an arrest. The investigation continues with DNA testing underway on evidence collected from multiple locations.
Community members have left yellow flowers at Nancy's home as signs of support. The case has drawn national and international attention as authorities work to bring the 84 year old woman home safely.
The Crusader's Opinion
An 84 year old woman of faith, taken from her own home in the dead of night by a masked coward with a gun. Nancy Guthrie was supposed to be at church the next morning. Instead, her family woke up to a nightmare that has now stretched into its third week. Savannah Guthrie stood before the world and said she believes in the "essential goodness of every human being." That is the grace of a Christian heart speaking. But let us be clear: whoever did this is staring down the full weight of earthly and eternal justice. You do not prey upon the elderly and the faithful and escape consequence. This family deserves answers. Nancy deserves to come home. And if you know something, your silence makes you complicit.
