Why Did Pete Hegseth Credit God for the U.S. Military Victory Over Iran?

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth declared a "decisive military victory" over Iran during a Wednesday morning press briefing at the Pentagon, publicly crediting both American military competence and divine providence for the outcome. The announcement came amid a two week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan between Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Hegseth told reporters that U.S. Central Command "dismantled one of the world's largest militaries" in under 40 days, using less than 10 percent of America's total combat power. He said over 13,000 targets had been struck since February 28.

"Our troops deserve credit for this day, but God deserves all the glory." Secretary of War Pete Hegseth

Those words from Secretary Hegseth set the tone for the entire Pentagon briefing. He also shared a message relayed from an American F-15E pilot who was shot down roughly 200 miles inside Iran and rescued on Sunday. The pilot's first words upon being recovered were, according to Hegseth, simply, "God is good."

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Dan Caine warned that U.S. forces remain prepared to resume hostilities immediately if Tehran violates the terms of the agreement. Vice President JD Vance separately described the ceasefire as "fragile," signaling that the two week pause could collapse without sustained pressure.

The ceasefire enabled President Trump to step back from earlier threats to devastate Iran's "whole civilization" if the regime refused to yield. Pakistan played the role of mediator, shuttling terms between Tehran, Washington, and Jerusalem until an agreement was finalized.

Hegseth framed the operation as historic, emphasizing that American forces achieved strategic goals far faster and with far fewer resources than critics had predicted. The rescue of the downed F-15E pilot was described as a particular answer to prayer by those present at the briefing.

The Crusader's Opinion

A Secretary of War standing behind the Pentagon podium and openly giving glory to God in front of the entire Washington press corps is something we have not seen in a generation. Make no mistake, the media hates this. They would rather Hegseth credit "diversity" or "international cooperation" than the Living God who answers prayers. But a pilot went down 200 miles inside hostile territory and came home alive, and the first words out of his mouth were, "God is good." That is not a talking point. That is a testimony. America was forged by men who believed God fights for the righteous, and it is about time our leaders remembered it.
