NatGeo Secrets of the Bees: James Cameron Documentary Unveils God's Stunning Design in Creation
National Geographic's Secrets of the Bees, executive produced by James Cameron, reveals the wonder of God's creation through bees.
What Does the Bible Say About Bees and God's Creation in the New NatGeo Documentary?
National Geographic released "Secrets of the Bees" in March, a two episode special now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu. The documentary is executive produced by James Cameron and hosted by BAFTA and Emmy winning wildlife filmmaker Bertie Gregory.
The special features entomologist Samuel Ramsey, a fellow National Geographic explorer, who guides viewers through the astonishing architecture and intelligence of the honeybee world. Filmed over three years, the production used specialized probe lens cameras to reveal rarely seen ecosystem dynamics inside a single hive.
Cameron, who maintains an organic farm with 300 beehives of his own, produced the series through Lightstorm Earth alongside Maria Wilhelm. The two episodes are titled "The Hive" and "The Pollinators."
Gregory said he was surprised by the sheer ingenuity of the bees' design. He highlighted diverse species including Amazonian bees that create honey from rotting flesh and mason bees he affectionately calls "Harry Potter bees."
They're responsible for so much of the food we eat, so if bees are in trouble, we're in trouble. Bertie Gregory
There are more than 20,000 bee species worldwide, and they are responsible for pollinating approximately one third of the food humans consume. The series kicks off National Geographic's Earth Month initiative as part of the acclaimed "Secrets of" franchise celebrating its fifth anniversary.
James Cameron Secrets of the Bees Reveals the Genius of God's Design

For Christian viewers, the documentary arrives as a striking reminder of the intricate order woven through creation. From the hexagonal perfection of the honeycomb to the communal intelligence of the hive, the footage showcases what believers recognize as the fingerprints of a Creator who numbered the hairs on our heads and clothes the lilies of the field.
The Crusader's Opinion
The secular world produces a documentary on bees and stands in awe of their ingenuity and design, yet refuses to name the Designer. Scripture told us thousands of years ago to consider the works of His hands. Every honeycomb is a sermon. Every pollinator is a preacher declaring the glory of God. Romans 1:20 says His invisible attributes are clearly seen in the things that have been made, so that men are without excuse. Watch this documentary with your children and point them to the Author of life. Creation still testifies, even when man refuses to listen.
