Holy Land's Last Christian Village Attacked by Settlers: Zero Arrests, Zero Justice

Taybeh, the West Bank's last Christian village, faces relentless settler attacks with zero arrests as families flee and a priest demands the world act.

Last Christian Village in the West Bank Under Siege as Settlers Attack With Total Impunity

Taybeh, the last entirely Christian village in the West Bank, is facing an escalating campaign of settler violence that has gone completely unpunished. Father Bashar Fawadleh, the Latin parish priest, is calling on the international community to act before it is too late.

The village, home to approximately 1,400 residents located east of Ramallah, has endured repeated attacks including arson against agricultural lands, the torching of civilian vehicles, vandalism of an ancient church, and the destruction of olive groves that serve as the community's primary source of income.

Settlers can buy more land and expand their outposts. This puts growing pressure on Palestinian towns and villages like ours.

On February 8, 2026, the Israeli government adopted an administrative decision strengthening civilian and military authority over land and real estate in the West Bank. Father Fawadleh described this as "one of the most dangerous moments since 1967," warning it could mark the beginning of official annexation.

In the early hours of February 4, 2026, three individuals linked to the "Hilltop Youth" movement set fire to two civilian vehicles near the village cemetery. Security camera footage captured masked settlers entering the village. Hebrew graffiti reading "Revenge" and "Am Yisrael Chai" was left on walls.

On February 28, settlers stole a horse and foal from a family's land. Livestock is regularly released into the village to damage crops. Multiple military checkpoints restrict movement at every entrance to the town.

Not a single arrest has been made in connection with any of these attacks. Between 2023 and 2025, at least 16 families fled the village. More are weighing the same decision.

Taybeh is not just a village; it is a living sign of the Christian presence in the Holy Land.

More than 600 of Taybeh's inhabitants belong to the Latin Catholic Church, with the remainder affiliated with the Greek Orthodox and Melkite Greek Catholic communities. Father Fawadleh has called for concrete aid through education, housing, employment, and psychological support programs.

Christian Community in Taybeh Faces Ethnic Cleansing as World Stays Silent

Father Fawadleh has urged the Universal Church to advocate for the protection of Taybeh's Christians. The village has stood as a Christian community in the Holy Land for centuries, yet today its very existence hangs in the balance as families are driven out by violence and economic strangulation.

The Crusader's Opinion

Let me be absolutely clear: what is happening in Taybeh is the systematic erasure of Christianity from the very land where Christ walked. Zero arrests. Not one. Settlers burn cars, torch olive groves, vandalize churches, and scrawl threats on walls, and the authorities do absolutely nothing. This is not negligence. This is policy by omission.

Ask yourself: what would the global reaction be if Christians were doing this to a Muslim village? The United Nations would hold emergency sessions. Sanctions would be on the table within hours. But because the victims are Palestinian Christians, the world shrugs.

Taybeh has survived wars, empires, and centuries of upheaval. We cannot let it die in silence on our watch. Every Christian denomination must speak with one voice: the persecution of our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land must end now.
