Kooman Brothers Reveal Miraculous Wind Encounter on Set of Biblical Epic 'Daniel' Starring Mena Massoud

Canadian filmmaking brothers Matthew and Daniel Kooman have shared extraordinary details about their experience shooting the upcoming biblical epic "Daniel," claiming God moved powerfully during production in India.

The brothers, who run UnveilTV and have been making films for 20 years, described a moment on set when the presence of God physically manifested during a key scene.

"Wind blew like actual winds blew in. Trees were blowing. Tents were literally flying off the set."

Daniel Kooman recounted, describing the supernatural encounter that left cast and crew in awe.

Before production even began, the brothers laid their vision before the Lord in prayer.

"God, if you're not supposed to make this movie, don't let us make this movie."

The film, which raised $1.2 million through one of the most successful faith based crowdfunding campaigns in recent memory, stars Mena Massoud of Disney's "Aladdin" in the title role and Elijah Alexander from "The Chosen" as King Nebuchadnezzar.

Travis Mann, executive producer of the $110 million faith based hit "I Can Only Imagine," joined the Kooman Brothers as a producer on the project.

The movie focuses on the first three chapters of the biblical Book of Daniel, chronicling the dramatic early months of the Jewish exile into Babylon. It follows Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as they navigate life under Nebuchadnezzar's rule, rising from lowly exiles to positions of influence while holding fast to their faith.

Matthew Kooman explained the project grew from a lifelong passion for Scripture, noting the cultural landscape has shifted. "The market really has opened up to stories like this to be received in a broader way," he said.

The brothers chose to portray Daniel as a young man, inspired by a Complete Jewish Bible translation describing him and his companions as "boys" when they were taken to Babylon. The script was vetted by pastors, theologians, and biblical historians, with a Hebrew Old Testament scholar calling it the most accurate biblical film script he had reviewed.

The score features a new arrangement of "Awesome God" by Michael W. Smith, arranged by his son Tyler Michael Smith. The brothers hope the film inspires audiences with Daniel's courageous faith, particularly the conviction of Daniel 3:17 18 about remaining faithful regardless of consequences.

The Kooman brothers filmed "Daniel" in India, utilizing the country's sweeping landscapes and world renowned film production resources. The majestic architecture and preserved grandeur of the region brought the ancient world of Babylon to life, giving it what they described as a "beautiful, golden kingdom feel."

The brothers envision this film as the first installment of a larger series covering the full story of Daniel, including the famous lion's den narrative. The movie is set to arrive in theaters in 2026.

The Crusader's Opinion

This is exactly what the Church needs right now. While Hollywood pours billions into nihilistic garbage and anti Christian propaganda, the Kooman brothers are putting their faith on the line and letting God direct the production. Winds blowing tents off the set? That is not coincidence. That is the Holy Spirit showing up.

We need more of this. We need believers in every industry who refuse to compromise, who pray before they act, and who build something worthy of the God they serve. Mena Massoud, Elijah Alexander, Michael W. Smith's son on the score. This is a serious production backed by serious faith. Support it. Share it. Show Hollywood that stories of courage and conviction will always outshine their emptiness.
