Church of the Highlands Opens 26th Campus in Peachtree City, Georgia as Megachurch Expansion Continues

The Church of the Highlands, Alabama's largest multisite church, officially launched its 26th campus on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in Peachtree City, Georgia. The new location marks the second Georgia campus for the non denominational, charismatic leaning megachurch affiliated with the Association of Related Churches.

The first worship services were held at McIntosh High School, located at 201 Walt Banks Road in Peachtree City, with seating for over 600 worshippers plus additional space for children's ministry. Weekly services are scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

The campus is led by Campus Pastor Caleb Chambers, who previously oversaw the Shoals Campus in Alabama, under the leadership of Lead Pastor Mark Pettus. The new location will serve the Peachtree City, Newnan, and Fayetteville regions of Georgia.

Whether you're new to church or ready for a fresh start, we would love for you to join us.

Lead Pastor Mark Pettus said in a statement about the new campus.

Founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 2001 by Pastor Chris Hodges, the Church of the Highlands has grown to draw tens of thousands of worshippers weekly across its 26 locations. The church first expanded beyond Alabama's borders in 2019 when it opened a campus in Columbus, Georgia, approximately 35 miles from its Auburn, Alabama location.

Church spokesperson Corena Cottles emphasized the church's approach to growth, stating that when they consider new locations, the goal is "strengthening what's already there" through community outreach including small groups, school supply drives, holiday initiatives, and disaster response efforts.

The Peachtree City campus will offer programs including the church's Growth Track faith development program, small groups tailored to individual interests and life stages, and children's ministry. An inaugural First Saturday Serve community outreach event is scheduled for April 4, 2026.

The church, now celebrating its 25th anniversary, considers the Bible "the authoritative Word of God" and "the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths." Its stated mission is to help people "Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose and Make a Difference."

The expansion into Peachtree City comes as the Church of the Highlands continues to operate an active ministry presence within Alabama's Department of Corrections alongside its growing network of campuses across the southeastern United States.

The Crusader's Opinion

This is what the Church is supposed to look like. While denominations squabble over liturgical details and cultural relevance, the Church of the Highlands just keeps opening doors and filling seats. Twenty six campuses in 25 years. Tens of thousands gathering every Sunday to hear the Word of God preached without apology. That is the Great Commission in action. Pastor Hodges built something that puts many of our comfortable, stagnant congregations to shame. The harvest is plentiful, the workers are few, and this church keeps sending more workers into the field. God bless every soul that walks through those doors in Peachtree City.
