TPUSA Sends Cease and Desist as Owens Accuses Organization of Role in Founder's Assassination

Candace Owens has received a cease and desist letter from Turning Point USA demanding that she "cease her disparaging comments" about the organization, including implying that some of its staff might have played a part in Charlie Kirk's murder.

Following Kirk's assassination on September 10, 2025, during a TPUSA event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, Owens has dedicated many of her podcast episodes to discussing theories about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Owens announced on her January 21 podcast, which has nearly 2 million views, that the conservative political organization sent her a cease and desist letter.

"Congratulations to me," she quipped on her show, celebrating the legal notice as if it were a badge of honor. She then delivered a satirical apology directed at TPUSA, telling listeners to "give all your money to Turning Points USA… They do nothing wrong."

Widow Erika Kirk Begs Owens to "Stop"

Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged with aggravated murder in Kirk's death. Authorities said bullet casings from the shooting were inscribed with internet and video game memes, including "Hey fascist! Catch!" Prosecutors released text messages between Robinson and his roommate in which Robinson says he shot Kirk because he "had enough of his hatred."

Owens has instead suggested France, Israel and Egypt might have been involved, that Charlie Kirk was "betrayed" by people close to him, and that state and federal law enforcement are covering up a bigger crime. She also accused TPUSA of financial fraud, claiming $8.6 million in missing funds.

The Department of the Treasury sent a private letter to Erika Kirk, Charlie's widow who now serves as TPUSA CEO, confirming the organization is not being investigated for fraud.

Erika Kirk spoke to Fox News' Harris Faulkner, finally breaking her silence on Owens: "I do not have time to address the noise. My silence does not mean that I am complacent. My silence does not mean that somehow Turning Point USA and all of the handpicked staff that loved my husband and my husband loved them is somehow in on it."

Despite meeting with Erika Kirk for 4.5 hours in December, Owens has continued pushing conspiracy theories. She opened one recent episode with "Shabbat Shalom" and replaced her theme music with "Hava Nagila," the Jewish folk song, heavily implying Israeli involvement.
