FBI probes terrorism ties after gunman wearing Property of Allah hoodie and Iran flag shirt kills three in Austin bar shooting
Austin Mass Shooting Suspect Wore "Property of Allah" Hoodie and Iran Flag Shirt, FBI Probes Terrorism Link
A gunman opened fire outside Buford's Backyard Beer Garden on West Sixth Street in downtown Austin, Texas, early Sunday morning, March 1, 2026, killing three people and wounding at least 13 others before being fatally shot by police.
The suspect has been identified as Ndiaga Diagne, 53, a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Senegal. Diagne arrived in the United States on March 13, 2000, on a B 2 tourist visa. He married a U.S. citizen in 2006, obtained permanent residence, and became a naturalized citizen in 2013.
According to CBS News, Diagne was wearing a "Property of Allah" hoodie and a T shirt with an Iranian flag design during the attack. Authorities found an Islamic Republic of Iran flag and pictures of Iranian leaders inside his home.
The victims have been identified as Ryder Harrington, 19; Savitha Shan, 21; and Jorge Pederson, 30, who was removed from life support on Monday. Two additional victims remain in critical condition.
The FBI, alongside the ATF, Austin police, and Texas state police, is now leading the investigation. Federal authorities found what they described as "indicators" on the gunman and in his vehicle that point to a "potential nexus to terrorism."
A Quran and multiple weapons were found in Diagne's vehicle. Both firearms used in the attack, a handgun and an AR 15 style rifle, were legally acquired in San Antonio in 2017.
Any declarations on what led to that motive would be premature.
FBI Acting Special Agent Alex Doran stated, as investigators continue reviewing statements from approximately 150 witnesses.
Emergency medical services were called at 1:39 a.m. and first responders arrived within 57 seconds. Three responding officers engaged and killed the gunman. Investigators are now examining whether Diagne self radicalized and whether there is a connection to international terrorism, particularly in the context of U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran and its proxies.
FBI Investigates Possible Terror Motive in Austin Bar Shooting That Killed Three
Prior to the shooting, Diagne had documented mental health episodes, though no confirmed foreign terrorism links have been established at this time. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine whether the attack was motivated by extremist ideology.
The Crusader's Opinion
Let there be no confusion about what happened in Austin. A man draped in the symbols of a hostile foreign regime walked into an American street and murdered innocent people. He wore "Property of Allah" on his chest and the flag of Iran on his back. The evidence speaks for itself, even if the FBI is still choosing its words carefully.
If a Christian walked into a public square in Tehran wearing a cross and carrying a Bible, he would be arrested, tortured, or killed. There would be no investigation into "potential motives." The world would not offer him the benefit of the doubt. Yet here, in the land of the free, we tiptoe around the obvious while families bury their children.
Evil is real. It wears identifiable clothing. It carries flags. And it must be named, not explained away.
