Richard D. Land, Christian Post Executive Editor, attended a Nashville banquet hosted by the 917 Society and detailed the organization's ambitious civic education initiative. The effort targets eighth graders nationwide with the goal of restoring constitutional literacy at a time when civics and citizenship classes have largely disappeared from American schools.

Land made this declaration after witnessing firsthand the enthusiasm surrounding the initiative. He emphasized that the Constitution, adopted on September 17, 1787, represents the fulfillment of the Declaration of Independence's stated purpose.
The Preamble of the Constitution outlines its mission to "form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty."
Land recalled that Delaware became the first state to ratify the Constitution on December 7, 1787, while Rhode Island was the last to do so in May 1790. He also highlighted conversations with immigrants at the event who expressed deep gratitude for American freedoms and voiced their desire that young Americans understand the extraordinary heritage they have inherited.
The pocket sized "Blue Book" editions distributed by the 917 Society are accompanied by classroom materials, lesson plans, quizzes, and essay contests designed to engage students in learning about their government and constitutional rights. The organization does not receive federal or state funding and relies entirely on private citizens to fund the free program for teachers and students.
